Happy Summer!

Bring on the popsicles & slip n' slide, Portland is set to hit 90 this weekend! I found this cute printable set over at Oh Happy Day, and thought it was perfect to start off the weekend (or, in the sake of oregon, the summer -which seems to always start right around july 4th).  Little Man Jack began asking for ice-cream a couple years ago to "celebrate the sun", which not only shows how thankful we are to see it in these parts but also his sweet spirit. So, yes, let's celebrate!

Bloom Where You Are Planted

Ah, yes. One of my favorite quotes. So simple, but you know, every time I hear it, I think - "yes."  Such a powerful reminder. I have a tendency to think about what's next & where else... maybe because I grew up moving around so much and then always wanted to move on... but I know I keep myself from really shining when these thoughts come in. I think, someday we'll have that farm house, and then I'll make those pillows/finish the quilt/ really take good photos/ invite friends for dinner more/ get to know my neighbors / paint it the color I really want/ etc. It's not that I'm unthankful, goodness knows I remind myself each day of the blessings I have, but it's just those thoughts of what if, until, & if only that creep in....

Does anyone else feel like this? It's a bit maddening and depressing when I stop and say it. Any thoughts on how to let yourself just bloom? 

Well, I might just have to keep this pretty photo from shayla lillian up around the house so I wake each morning with this as my focus...

Printable Summer List

Summer is here! School is out and the days filled with adventure and lazy afternoons have begun.  Jack is a little anxious about not having school and like his mama, he made a list of summer plans. It's a work in progress with new ideas being added daily. I found this summer list at Project Alicia and love the the colors and inspiration.  

For me, my goal this summer is to enjoy every last drop with the boys ...before the start of kindergarten and preschool in the fall! Definitely adding s'mores, camp in the backyard, and watch fireworks to our list.

Hooray for the Dads!

A little cheer for all the dads out there! I found this cute simple printable father's day questionnaire at Super Mom and think it makes a really sweet gift from the boys. We've got a fun day ahead here starting with donuts and ending with apple pie... plus a soccer match in between. Totally a dad's day.

Bits of New

Hello, friends! Happy Monday. Today is the last day of preschool for Little Man Jack. It hasn't quite sunk in -I've been focused on all the excitement of kindergarten & end of year activities....but I'm anticipating quite a few tears today. I'm such a sentimental person, holding on to memories & keepsakes. And I just can't believe that these preschool years are over...and that Luke will be starting in the Fall.  I know I'm not in this alone - I think lots of you have little ones heading out into the great big world soon.  Hugs to us all!

Hello, June! Checking in with a Desktop Calendar

Hello friends! 

A quick little check in. It's been awhile. How about this happy & sweet calendar I found over at Ruche? It's a cool burst of summer, and boy am I ready for that! 

It's been a bit of a tough go over here...which I guess might be obvious by all the missing posts??!  Well, last week my grandfather passed away...he's been ill for awhile but it sort of happened fast. He was a very sweet man with a zest for life (um, he played the senior olympics horseshoes AND was part of a country dance group well into his 70's!!)  lots of inspiration there to enjoy life. 

And, along those lines, Jack's entering kindergarten next school year. Which leaves me both proud & weepy...so I guess every little minute feels like a lifetime, soaking it all in & embracing this period of transition. 

So, with all this - I guess I'm hoping for the best summer ever. Taking a bit from my grandpa to really jump into life feet first and hold on to Jack while I've got the time home with him. 

Ahh. life.
