Halloween Costumes for Babies

Lambs, pea pods, sock monkeys, goblins, lions, tigers, and bumble bees... Oh, how it's difficult to choose a Halloween costume for baby. Especially the very first one. Here's some tutorials for those who'd like to create & some great shops for those who need a little handmade kick start....

Tutorials:
A diversion from the traditional at Cookie Magazine -featuring a cat burglar, cotton candy, and a conductor plus a great cheat sheet for last minute expensive get-ups.

Of course I'd find something from Martha- clever & cute- Goldfish, Lambs, & a Chicken... virtually no-sew & very clear tutorial. She's also got some sweet harvest vegetables for the older bunch. Ah Martha.

Hit the jackpot with Parenting Magazine's collection of 100 costumes and a dozen no-sews for babes. If we were back in Boston, I'd have to go for the lobster they've got featured!

Handmade Goodies:
I found a virtual treasure trove of adorable Halloween hats on Etsy that could make a super simple costume or be worn through the autumn months. I really couldn't believe what cuteness I found!

Babaii Alainn ("beautiful baby" in Gaelic, pronounced "bah-bee aw-lin) has some very sweet knit caps for baby & toddler. I love the little lion hat & aviator beanie.

There are tons of unique choices at Funny Finn like giraffes, monkeys, & foxes but my favorite is the Little Bug Helmet! These hats would also be great for year round imaginative play.

Sweet little fleece caps that can be worn all through winter can be found at TieDyeDiva. I especially love the bunny (great photo) and little bear.

I was so excited to see that ConcreteKnits is located in the same town, Portland, Oregon. What a lovely shop this is, if only little Jack would keep a hat on I would scoop up this pumpkin beanie.
