Fall Leaf Felt Garland

Thursday, October 08, 2009

Looky, Looky! This morning I finished a fall leaf garland...with happy autumny colors. I'm really happy with it, though I think I'll add more leaves so it stretches across a window frame or across our bookshelf.
Originally, I had planned on stitching the leaves onto double folded brown binding spaced about 5" apart, but as I began to stitch the details of the leaves I realized that by not trimming the threads made for a garland itself- and more 3 dimensional to boot!

I found some leaf temples from martha stewart's fall coasters & drew a few of my own using what we found outside as well as from this sheet here for inspiration (see if you can spot the wonky ones!) Next time I might use shimmery thread or maybe something other than brown....also, I'm thinking of a halloween garland or pennant now that this one seemed to have worked out!
