I love those little paint color cards. Makes you feel like the possibilities are endless. Our home is in a bit of a slump...we're still at the stage where our furniture doesn't quite go together exactly & we're still waiting for our own home to make any major changes. However, after our little trip to Santa Monica, I'm inspired to paint a few of our pieces & decided on a combination of these colors in the living room & the dining room. They're from the Martha Stewart collection at Home Depot. So looking forward to getting to work on this project!

Totally in love with all we saw in Santa Monica last month, I wrote a whole post on the design of our hotel....but here's a few of the photos that inspired my color choices...

The colors are very pretty together. I remember painting my kitchen yellow, years & years ago, because I thought it would be so bright and cheery. But when it was finished, I hated it. I repainted in about a month. And as I look thru my fabric stash, I have very little yellow. Guess I didn't realize that yellow is one color I am not drawn to.
I painted our bedroom yellow one time when Mark was out of town (it had been blue). But I didn't choose a clear yellow, it had kind of a muddy undertone. So the next day I repainted it back to blue because I couldn't think of what else to do. When he came home, Mark kind of sniffed around the bedroom and said, "Hey, I thought you were going to paint the bedroom. It smells like you painted, but it's still the same color." Uh, yeah, about that...
I now have a yellow spare bedroom and love it, but it's a very clear yellow and makes me happy every time I walk in there.
